>Jacket: Covers all possible amount of skin. Has a (too) large hood and collar that allows for receding into. The waterproof exterior makes it handy if it rains.

>Pants: A very normal pair of pants. Large pockets hide a multitude of snacks for animals you may come across. To be used in only very dire consequences. Do not use if appearances may be compromised. You have a reputation to maintain.

>Bag: Hidden under some slightly salty(??) smelling gym clothes, you may be able to fish (ha) out many worn fairytale books. It looks like they have been read a hundred times over. It also means your bag feels like carrying a bag of bricks. It's an adequate workout. 

>Water bottle: A 4L water bottle. You didn’t even know they made water bottles this huge. Thank god for the internet. You never leave home without this unless you want your Whole Day to be Miserable and full of chapped lips and dry skin.

>MP3 Player: Slightly archaic. Still works quite well and for a good amount of time. All of the song titles have been changed to what looks like…..fairy tale lines?

A generally quiet and unassuming young man, Lee tries to live his life as Inconspicuously as Possible. As it were, he’s grown up wondering just what higher being(s) he upset in his previous live(s) to have such Bad Karma. He hits every single red light when trying to go from place to place, breaks Something in every new place he goes to, plants start withering in his presence, it’ll start to rain whenever he’s made plans, his father left him and his mom.

He has no reason to believe that anything good could happen to him now - he expects the worst in everything.

All of this added onto the fact that [Redacted.] he.. received some unfortunate news means that he’s lost his faith in the only person he thought he could trust. With the amount of bad luck he’s had to deal with his whole life, it’s no wonder that he is very suspicious of people and their intentions. He would rather do everything himself rather than trust somebody else to even hold a door open for him. He’s learned the last 20 times he’s tried. He Gets It.

Despite everything, he was taught well from his mother how to be polite and tamp down on his snappy and moody replies he generally has in store for people. Deep down he’s an okay dude. Promise.

■ Background:

If Lee thinks about it hard enough, he thinks he can remember warm hands and soft skin covered by a dusting of day old stubble. A shaky smile and creased eyes. A time where his mother wore a smile easily.

He doesn’t think about it.

His father left when he was young. Too young. But his mother, Ina, picked up whatever jobs that she could, taking care of Lee on her own. It didn’t bother him at first. He hardly knew the man; no time to feel the loss that he could see in every line of his mother’s face, the tightening of her mouth. One that used to be so soft and gentle. Always offering the readiest of smiles.

He hates his father for what his mother can’t bear to tell him about.

But life goes on. And he strove to prove that he would be the best son any mother could ask for. He debated all through high school whether or not he should apply to universities outside of Indieville - he had the marks for it, after all - but he couldn’t bear to leave his mother on her own.

Not after what happened the last time part of their family left.

When Lee graduated high school with stellar marks, he had already decided to stay at home and attend the community college. However, he [Redacted.] moved out into a tiny, box-like, barely 2 room apartment across town. Everything in his life and all of his decisions had been driven by this invisible force that he hadn’t understood and now it all seemed to mock him. A joke. He was living in an awful farce where one day, someday, cameramen and reporters would jump out of the bushes to yell and cheer about how he had been filmed this whole time!!

In his dreams, maybe.

Presently, Lee is making do on his own. Having found a roommate that (he thinks is another act of Bad Karma) at least pays rent on time and a too large Tree that seems to have attached themself to him and is squatting in their place when they most definitely do not have the room for this is a little challenging. But between being in his first year of studying marine biology, avoiding all large bodies of water he can, working out incessantly, running around the whole town At Least Twice A Day and taking care of his roommates on the side; he has his hands full.

He most definitely doesn’t have time to go and visit his mom or anything.

Nope.

■ Extra:

• He always smells like salt water no matter what he does. Luckily, he doesn’t sweat though, so if you pretend you’re at the ocean, that’s what it smells like around him.

• Hates the rain.

• Avoids prolonged contact with cryptids. Uncomfortable around them. Won’t say why.

• Loves fairytale stories secretly. 

• Hates unhealthy food with an extreme passion.
